Corbenic Poetry Path (2 miles)
This unusual walk begins just off the A822, four miles west of Dunkeld. A brown sign points to a small car park where a map of the route is displayed. The path skirts around the Corbenic Camphill Community where adults with special needs live in a supported environment.
The walk is clearly waymarked throughout and quite a bit of height is gained. We pass through ancient woodland where wispy lichen hangs off the trees and also traverse open moorland with fine views across the Strathbraan landscape. We encounter over 30 poetry inscriptions, some of which are associated with sculptures or other works of art. Soak up the atmosphere and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the area.
The last part of the walk is on an access road falling sharply to the starting point. The River Brann tumbles wildly beneath. Head back to Dunkeld for refreshments and there is ample choice in this charming Perthshire town. A cheap and cheerful option is The Country Bakery where you can sit in or take away. The Royal Dunkeld Hotel serves real ale in its public bar, often from the local Strathbraan Brewery.
