The island of Great Cumbrae lies just off the Ayrshire coast and can be reached by taking the frequent ferry service from Largs. No advance booking is necessary and the journey time is just 10 minutes. Regular trains run to Largs from Glasgow. Once on the island, the main town of Millport is four miles distant and a bus runs every half hour from the ferry slip.
