Dumyat hill walk (4.8 miles)

Dumyat is the westernmost hill in the Ochils and the well-defined path to the low summit makes it one of the most accessible climbs in the range. Proximity to Stirling means this walk can be very popular at weekends when the weather is nice and many families make their way to the top.

Pendreich Forest car park is a good starting point. At the roundabout at the end of the Hillfoots Road (A91), take the exit signed Logie Kirk then turn immediately right alongside the church itself. Follow this single track road for a mile to a T-junction then go left for a short distance to the Forestry Commission car park.

Take the track leading uphill out of the car park. This links with Sheriffmuir Road where the Dumyat path leads off to the right. From here it is simply a case of following the obvious route to the summit. The spectacular Wallace Monument is close by and Central Scotland opens up before your eyes.

There are a few undulations along the way and eventually we reach the summit which is adorned with three pieces of furniture: a metal beacon, a stone crest of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders regiment and a good old-fashioned trig point. Retrace your steps to the car park.
