Glenfarg Duncrievie loop (2.6 miles)

A network of walking routes have been developed around the village of Glenfarg. They radiate from the general store on Ladeside and copy of the map can be downloaded here. This circular route takes place mainly on very quiet minor roads designated as friendly to walkers and cyclists. A fair amount of height is gained, offering a panorama of the rolling South Perthshire countryside.

Proceed up the steep Church Brae and keep going until you reach a crossroads. Take the single-track road to the left which leads over the hill to Duncrievie. Upon reaching a T-junction, you could simply turn left and walk back to the starting point. A more interesting option is to instead go right then first left down another steep single-track tarred road. This brings us to the B996.

Walk left along the mossy pavement for 200 yards and pass through a double gate on your left leading into the community woodland. A well-made path runs through the trees before arriving at Wallace Park. Follow the footpath back to Duncrievie Road then back to where you began.

There are couple of optional extras. From the shop, head along Ladeside then over the motorway footbridge. Keep going until reaching the last cottage. Turn left along the track to find the ruins of Arngask church. Another nearby point of interest is Balvaird Castle on the A912 near between Glenfarg and Gateside. It is free to wander around the building's exterior.
