Flanders Moss (0.6 miles)

Flanders Moss is located just off the B822 which runs from Thornhill to Kippen in the southwest corner of historic Perthshire. Ample car parking is provided and information boards explain the origins and history of this ancient raised peat bog.

Make your way to the viewing tower which allows you to see across the expanse of land occupied by the nature reserve. The Trossachs range can be seen in the distance. A circular path can be followed around the moss. Be sure to stop at the small pond which teems with insects and amphibians.

This is a lovely short walk around an unusual landscape. The Lion & Unicorn just up the road in Thornhill serves food and real ale in a traditional setting by a log-burning fire.
