Johnshaven to Inverbervie (5 miles)

The ancient fishing port of Johnshaven has a history stretching back centuries. The heritage museum in the old lifeboat shed is free to visit (donations welcome) and refreshments are available in the pub and tearoom. There is also a lobster shop by the working harbour. Stick to the shoreline and work your way towards the next village. The path is flat and easy to follow.

Gourdon is another settlement full of maritime heritage and the Maggie Law Lifeboat Museum (open weekend afternoons) is worth a look. The Harbour Bar and Quayside Restaurant overlook the water. The latter has fish & chips available to take away. Push on towards Inverbervie - a small town with good facilities. The tarred path on the final stretch follows the course of the old branch railway from Montrose. It passed through Johnshaven and Gourdon but closed in 1964. The X7 Stagecoach bus now links the three places on this walk.
