Lochan Spling Circuit (3.5 miles)
From the main car-park in the middle of Aberfoyle, head up Manse Road and cross the old stone bridge over the River Forth. Look out for the pony in the adjacent field. After 250 yards, branch right on to Duchray Road, walking past a few residential properties. The tarmac gives way to forest track. Continue straight ahead, glimpsing the small loch through the trees to your right.
Once beyond the loch, turn right at a junction (signed Inversnaid). The path diverges from the water but this is rectified by turning sharp right to bring us down to shore level. A pleasant waterside stroll ensues and a dragonfly sculpture is encountered. A picnic bench is located at the other end of the loch which is a great spot for lunch. A large metal artwork of a pike stands in the water. Complete the loch circuit to hook up with the inward route and retrace your steps back to Aberfoyle.
