Cruden Bay (2.5 miles)

The beach and dunes can be accessed from Harbour Street. Cross the Water of Cruden on a wooden bridge to reach the golden sands. A fine place to stroll.

Back on Harbour Street, walk round to a small car-park with a brown sign for Slains Castle. Public toilets are located near here and a path leads into the woods. Follow this route for three quarters of a mile and you will see the ruined shell of the castle standing on the coast. Abandoned since 1922, the once grand residence is said to have inspired scenes in the Dracula novel. The remains are fascinating to explore.
