This ancient wooded gorge is situated a few hundred yards to the north of the A915 in Lower Largo. Follow the minor road signposted for the campsite. A couple of parking spaces are available at the Den entrance. Late spring is a good time to visit, when the bluebells and wild garlic are out in force.
Proceed along the path and take the left-hand fork to reach the bridge over the burn. Continue upstream, climbing high above the water. Another junction is encountered and you can bear right to descend to the burn and cross back over, completing the loop on the other side. Alternatively, remain on the high level path upstream until it turns back on itself, crossing the burn beside a road bridge. The latter option adds just over a mile to the circuit.
