Forth Valley Hospital (1.3 miles)

The Forth Valley Royal Hospital opened in 2010 on the site of the old Royal Scottish National Hospital - a Victorian psychiatric institution. Situated on the edge of Larbert in close proximity to a motorway junction, the complex is readily accessible by car. Larbert railway station is just under a mile away. The hospital is set within 70 acres of parkland, part of the neighbouring former Larbert House estate. Several walking trails have been created. A map can be viewed here

The walks take you around Larbert Loch - artificially created for the estate. A wooden pier offers tranquil views across the water with the town church steeple in the distance. Larbert House still stands but is now divided into modern apartments. The yellow trail takes you through the largest patch of woodland and all routes begin and end on the concourse at the main entrance. Make sure you visit the award-winning cafe inside. Ample seating and a choice of various main courses as well as snacks and drinks. Down the hill, the Station Hotel offers a superb selection of real ales.
