Walk down Station Road in Oakley. Pass under the old railway bridge that now carries the West Fife Way cycle track. Take the left-hand fork then turn right after a short distance. You will soon see a map outlining local trails. Head along the path to the left which leads to a loop around a pond. Follow the clockwise direction. The route gains height and a split to the left offers a short detour to the woodland boundary with nice views across the surrounding fields. Return to the main circuit and continue back to the starting point.
Keep a straight course over the access road that brought you into the woods. After another spell among the trees, you encounter a junction involving a minor road and an access track for a private house. Again hop straight over and take the path into the woodland, paralleling the old estate wall. This route eventually curves back on itself and you arrive back at the entry point. This time, cross the carriageway and walk towards the imposing white hulk of the Holy Name Church. Stick to the path and you descend to the cycle way, passing a huge cross-shaped war memorial erected by the estate owners. Turn right and walk through the site of Oakley Station (closed in 1968) and over the road bridge. A path leads down and your expedition is complete.
