Start at the visitors centre for Beecraigs Country Park. Walk downhill on the path beside the minor road and cross over to traverse another parking area and pass by the animal centre. A viewing platform provides fine views of the Forth Valley. Famous cattle breeds can be observed in the adjacent fields.
Follow the obvious path along and down to the artificially constructed loch and begin an anti-clockwise circuit. You soon reach the dam that traps the water inside this former reservoir. Information boards relay the history of the area. Continue along the southern shore and then take the direct route back up to the vistors centre, or complete the full circuit and return via the animal centre.
