Dunino Den (0.6 miles)
The hamlet of Dunino lies four miles south of St Andrews on the B9131. The Den is just a stone's throw from the road and you can park near the red phone box and head down a gravel track to cross the burn. A signed path leads off to the right through the woods. Alternatively, follow the single track road to Dunino Church which branches off the B9131. There is ample car parking here.
A short walk through the trees brings us to the church which overlooks the den. The stone well can be spotted and a flight of steps carved into the rock takes us down to the lower level. There are various carvings in the stonework and many coins have been stuffed into crevices by visitors. Jewellery and ribbons hang from branches and the whole place has a mystical atmosphere.
