Inversnaid Loop (1 mile)

The tiny settlement of Inversnaid is situated in the neck of Stirlingshire that extends up the eastern bank of Loch Lomond. It is reached by taking the single-track B829 from Aberfoyle, a journey of 15 miles. After passing the picturesque Loch Arklet, we descend to the shores of Scotland's largest body of fresh water. A bunkhouse and hotel are located at Inversnaid, servicing the West Highland Way and Trossachs Path which run close by.

From the public car park adjacent to the hotel, follow the West Highland Way with the water on your left. After 500 yards, the RSPB trail splits off to the right. The path through the ferns has many steps and it's quite a tough little outing as height is gained quickly. A pinnacle is reached which has been cleared of vegetation and has a handy bench seat. Enjoy the excellent views of the loch before taking the staircase on the other side of clearing. This leads downwards and completes the loop back to the West Highland Way.
