Ceres to St Andrews (9 miles)
The path crosses the stone-arched bridge over the Ceres Burn and passes by the primary school on the way out of the village. We wander between fields for around a mile then take a sharp left which eventually brings us to the B940. Cross over and walk past Kinninmonth Farm and over the hill. We emerge on a quiet surfaced road at Ladeddie and follow this for over two miles past Drumcarrow Craig and the hamlet of Denhead. Glimpses of the North Sea will appear.
Look out for a marker instructing you to leave the road and take a right-hand turn into woodland. Stick to the defined path through the trees and hook up with an access road for Duke's Golf Course. A superb vista of St Andrews in the distance can be enjoyed. Merge into Craigtoun Park with its host of family attractions and follow the trail through the centre. Exit by the bowling green and let the arrows guide you through the den towards the outskirts St Andrews. The final stretch of town walking culminates in the mighty ruined cathedral. You have earned your stripes as a Fife pilgrim. Enjoy some refreshment before heading to the bus station.
