Ferry Hills (1.25 miles)
This small peak sits behind the popular coastal town of North Queensferry. You can easily include this outing as an extension to the North Queensferry circuit described here. Starting from the centre, make your way up the steep Ferryhill Road past the railway station. Continue until the cottages thin out and you approach the speed limit signs at the edge of town. A metal gate leads to a trail on your left.
Take this path to the obvious summit. Partially obscured (but still wonderful) views can be had of the world famous Forth Bridge. As more height is gained, you can see over the treetops towards Dalgety Bay and there is also an inland panorama. You look down upon a deep quarrying operation which is hidden from the normal road and rail corridors. A nice little climb and you can head back down for refreshments afterwards.
