Glamis Castle Grounds (1.5 miles)

Admission charges apply to both castle and grounds. From the car-park, take a stroll around the front lawn and have a look at the historic sundial. Walk by the giant chestnut tree where the Queen Mother played as a child. Proceed into the Italian Garden which has a memorial to Princess Margaret, who was born here.

Look out for the Highland cattle and Macbeth sculptures as you pass through the pinetum, the trees reaching enormous heights. Make your way into the walled garden, a riot of colour when plants are blooming. At the far end are the historic glasshouses, now in need of repair. There are many side paths to explore as you return to the start point. Refreshments are available in the tearoom.
