Dunblane to Kinbuck (5.5 miles)
Start at Dunblane Cathedral in the town centre. Ample free parking is available. Proceed along a narrow street called Haining, which leads down to the River Allan. Follow the walkway for a short distance before passing below the railway bridge and branching into Laighhills Public Park. Head up past the concrete skateboard facility and go over the ridge. Look for a path on your right leading to a slender footbridge across the railway tracks. Turn left and stay on the well-made path, signed for Ashfield.
We return to the river and pass under the A9. Take the footpath across open country, remaining within easy reach of the water on your left. Maintain your course as the river bends away. We reach another railway footbridge that brings us into the charming village of Ashfield. The path continues out the other end, sticking to the railway. Kinbuck becomes visible in the distance, although the final stage may be muddy, beyond the point where a farm track runs beneath the embankment. Return to Dunblane by the reverse route or use the limited bus service.
