Lennoxtown Strathblane (8.5 miles)
Locate Station Road in Lennoxtown and pick up the railway path by skirting the edge of a football pitch. An early wooded section gives way to an open valley and the Campsie Hills form a scenic backdrop. The route is straightforward to navigate and a geographic feature of interest heaves into view. The basalt mound of Dunglass is a volcanic outcrop and sits incongruously in a landscape that is otherwise as flat as a pancake.
The final stretch towards Strathblane runs through a shallow cutting and the path terminates just short of the village centre due to private gardens occupying the old station site. Switch to the pavement for a look around and grab some well-earned refreshments from the local Co-op. Return by the reverse route.
