Dysart to East Wemyss (4 miles)
Pressing on from Dysart Harbour, the village of West Wemyss is clearly visible in the distance with its whitewashed houses. The path takes a direct route and this remarkable settlement reveals itself. The unusual church tower would look more at home in Italy than a corner of Fife. There is a community-run pub and café called the Walk Inn.
Bash on to the neighbouring village of East Weymss which sits above the shore. The path sticks to the waterline and touches a corner of a housing scheme before bringing us to the fabled Wemyss Caves. They feature the largest number of Pictish inscriptions in one place. The caves are in continual danger from erosion and are heavily propped up. Go in for a look and and switch on your smartphone torch. The path climbs back up to the main road at which point you can walk back into East Wemyss and take a bus to Dysart. Services are frequent.
