Kirkcaldy Kinghorn circuit (6 miles)

This walk begins on the edge of Kirkcaldy at Seafield Road. A large car-park signed with the Fife Coastal Path logo is located here. Head back to the B9157 (Invertiel Road) and proceed uphill, passing under the railway bridge. After a short distance, turn left on to an unclassified road. No pavement is available but cars are few and far between. Height is gradually gained, revealing a coastal panorama. Stick to the tarmac, ignoring a couple of farm offshoots. Look out for the remains of Piteadie Castle to your right.

At a set of crossroads, turn left towards a pair of trees sitting on the brow of the hill. They are known locally as the "kissing trees" so bear that in mind if your walking companion happens to be the love of your life. The road then descends through the fields to eventually meet the B923. Cross over and head down Kilcruik Road towards Kinghorn town centre. Work your way to the shore and pick up the Fife Coastal Path, turning left towards Kirkcaldy. This final stage of the walk is completely traffic free and the undulating path hugs the rugged shoreline. After passing the ruins of Seafield Tower, we finish up at the car-park where we began.
