Errol to Port Allen (3 miles)
Start in the quaint village of Errol and make your way down Gas Brae. Proceed on to the obvious footpath and you soon pass the community garden on your right. Have a look around. Back on the path, go straight over the crossroads and head for the trees on the river bank. If you look behind you, the palatial Errol Park mansion house sits in a prominent position.
When you reach the strip of woodland, a gap allows you to stroll to the reed beds which stretch for an incredible 10 miles along the river. This is an important wildlife area and many species of bird are supported, including the marsh harrier and bearded tit. Follow the path upstream through the trees and and even better viewpoint is soon reached, looking across the reeds from an elevated standpoint. Continue to the old wharf of Port Allen which is now overlooked by a handful of houses. Return to Errol where refreshments are available. The famous Cairn O' Mohr fruit winery is situated just half a mile outside the village.
