Allean Forest Trail (1.8 miles)

 

Allean is part of the huge Tay Forest Park. Two loops are shown on the information board in the car park just off the B8019 near the Queen's View Visitor Centre. The yellow trail is the shorter but still gains a fair bit of height to offer views along the Tummel Valley. The route is waymarked but posts are few and far between. Go in the anti-clockwise direction and make sure you turn left when the grass path meets a forest road.

An abandoned farmstead is encountered on the descent and it's worth having a peek inside the cottage with the turfed roof. The trail returns to the car park where toilet facilities are available. For full refreshments, pop into the visitor centre just along the road.
