Cullen to Portknockie (2 miles)
The seaside town of Cullen once boasted three railway viaducts and the westernmost two form part of this walk. Pick up the old railway trail by heading down Seafield Street. Pass below the stone bridge that spans the main road and continue for 200 yards. A flight of steps leads up to the elevated trackbed and amazing views across the beach and harbour can be enjoyed from the two accessible viaducts and singled-arched bridge.
You may wish to make the short detour up Castle Hill. An obvious route leads to the viewpoint. Otherwise follow the railway route along the coast. When you skirt the golf course, the line drops into a cutting that runs all the way to Portknockie. Upon reaching the village, walk down (another) Seafield Street to emerge at the shore. The quirky Bow Fiddle Rock attracts visitors from far and wide. Hourly buses run back to Cullen.
