Forfar Town Trail (2 miles)
In the town centre, locate the impressive County Hall on the junction of Castle Street with High Street - an area known locally as The Cross. Directly opposite is a narrow pend named Osnabruck Street. Pass the historic pub of the same name and continue uphill along a road called The Vennel. At the crossroads, turn right and pass the Asda supermarket. Then take a left into Reid Park Road.
Enter the park via the grand gateway and proceed uphill, noting the bandstand and ornate fountain. Head for the top right hand corner of the park and exit on to a gravel path. This swings abruptly left to lead all the way to the summit of Balmashanner Hill. The tall war memorial is situated here and nice views of Strathmore can be enjoyed from the ridge.
