Dunmore to South Alloa (4 miles)
The immaculate village of Dunmore is centred around a lovely green with an ornamental well as the centrepiece. Dunmore formerly housed workers for the local estate and the housing was specially constructed to provide a standard of living far above average for the time.
Head down to the water and follow the route upstream. We basically follow the shore for a couple of miles and the path is mainly in good condition. However, there are a couple of short sections where it has fallen into disrepair and care should be taken here. Alloa can bee seen on the opposite bank and the industrial plants backed by the Ochil Hills makes an interesting juxtaposition. Finally we turn inland to reach the small settlement of South Alloa - once a ferry route across the Forth. An old pier still stands.
