E Wemyss to Lower Largo (7 miles)

Start at the edge of East Wemyss where the path follows the course of an old railway towards Buckhaven. Some street walking follows as we pass an industrial area of the coast. Drop into the Methil Heritage Centre which has a permanent local history exhibition and tea room. Open four afternoons per week. We follow the prom at Leven and then skirt the golf course and a caravan park as we approach Lower Largo.

This picturesque seaside village is dominated by the high viaduct which carried the Fife Coastal Line until the tracks were removed in 1967. An hourly bus service runs back to East Wemyss. There are a couple of Largo pubs worth checking out. The cosy Railway Inn has a couple of ales and a traditional interior with train memorabilia. The Crusoe Hotel restaurant is open in the evenings and pub grub is served all day in the public bar. A handpump is usually in action.
