Glasgow Nature Reserves (4.5 miles)
Take a train from Queen Street out to Kelvindale. Follow Dalsholm Road over the tracks and past the recycling centre (ignoring the first entrance to Dawsholm Park). Walk in via the next gate and proceed to the large area of open meadow, criss-crossed by various paths. Navigate down past the pond and locate the River Kelvin. There is only one bridge over the water. Cross Glasgow's second river and follow signs for Maryhill Station on the other side. Upon reaching the A81, take the footpath directly opposite. Walk uphill and bear right at the first opportunity, passing tennis courts and merging into Maryhill Park.
Head for the opposite corner and exit onto Caldercuilt Road. Take Rothes Drive at the roundabout and curve round towards Summerston Station. Before the railway bridge, turn left and skirt the retail park. Keep a straight course at the tight bend and transfer to the footpath. Bear left at the first junction and proceed towards the huge Western Necropolis. Enter the grounds and work your way towards the Lambhill cemetery gate, over to the far right. Cross the busy road and walk straight into Possil Marsh Nature Reserve. Turn left and follow the path that tracks the perimeter. You will pass the monument to the first recorded meteor strike in Scotland. At the top corner of the reserve, exit on to the canal path and stroll in the direction of Glasgow. Leave the waterway at the first road crossing and turn left. It is 1000 yards on the pavement to Possilpark & Parkhouse Station, which you passed through on the outward journey.
