Geordie's Wood Circuit (2 miles)

The A823 from Dunfermline to Crieff is one of the great unsung Scottish scenic drives. After crossing the A91 and passing the B934 turn-off for Dunning, Castlehill Reservoir appears on your right. There is a large car-park here. Cross the main road and head up the tarmac track. This climbs steeply and offers fine views of Down Hill on the opposite side of the reservoir. Pass through the wooden gate on your left after 300 yards. It is signed for Geordie's Wood and there is a handy map board here.

Follow this path - again gaining height - until it meets a broader and well-kept core route known as the Reservoir Trail. Turn right and walk up to the point where you meet a tall wooden gate. Here we take a sharp left and begin doubling back along the upper fringes of Geordie's Wood. The increased elevation allows a panoramic view of the rolling Perthshire hills. Continue along this path until the next waymarked junction which takes us back through the woods and continues our anti-clockwise loop. We re-emerge slightly lower down on the Reservoir Trail. Walk uphill to the point where we originally joined this path. There is a picnic table here. Finally, head back down to the car-park.
