Doon Hill (2 miles)

From the large car-park in the centre of Aberfoyle, cross the River Forth on the old stone bridge and follow the road past Kirkton Church and graveyard. Continue on to a farm track and hang left at the next junction. When you reach a metal barrier, take the first turn to the left. This track leads up Doon Hill and takes you through the atmospheric clootie well where strips of cloth hang from the trees.

The summit is a short walk away and is heavily wooded. A bit of scouting around will open up views through a gap in the vegetation. An alternative path - marked with a green pole - leads down from the clootie well via a slightly different route, bringing you back to the same forestry track. Turn right to head straight back to town or take a left for the longer loop around the base of Doon Hill.
