The Scottish Korean War memorial is located three miles from the centre of Linlithgow. Head up Preston Road past the primary school and keep going until you reach a lay-by on the left which can accommodate a good number of cars. Proceed into the memorial grounds. The names of the 1113 fallen military personnel are inscribed on the walls of a pagoda style building. The brutal conflict remains largely forgotten, which makes the rather obscure location strangely apposite.
The peaceful surroundings invite you to climb the small hill behind the pagoda and an obvious path leads to the top. Great views of West Lothian and across to Fife can be enjoyed. Lochcote Reservoir provides a splash of blue among the rolling green landscape. Witchcraig Wall is a viewpoint built in the shape of a sheep pen from 43 varieties of local stone. Stroll across the ridge before making your way back down to the starting point.
