Crail to Kingsbarns (6 miles)
The path leaves historic Crail behind and heads for Fife Ness, the most easterly point on the peninsula. Along the way we pass through a caravan park and walk by the remains of Crail Airfield - now used for drag racing. Kilminning Wildlife Reserve is a popular spot for hardcore birders and once round the extremity and its coastguard station, we skirt a golf course.
The route continues through fairly remote territory before coming into contact with yet more golfers. The sprawling Cambo Sands spread out in front of us and the official way passes through the grassy dunes. We finally arrive at a car park next to a long-abandoned harbour and there is a seasonal snack van. From here it's just over half a mile inland to Kingsbarns village where the ever-dependable 95 service takes you back to Crail.
